Dishwashers

Dishwashers are essentially like washing machines, and share a lot of the same parts, they have a wash motor, drain pump, water valve, sensors, computers, and a soap dispenser.

Just like washers, you have to use the right amount of soap, and you need to refill the rinse aid montly. The rinse aid is very important, it not only helps to clean the dishes better, but also help them dry properly.

Dishwashers also need to be cleaned themselves, and many dishwashers have a sanitation feature built in.

Plumbing is also crucial, there should be an air gap installed to help prevent the back flow of dirty water back into the dishwasher. If an air gap is not an option, it is recommend that the dishwasher drain hose be mounted in a loop to the height of the counter top. If your dishwasher isn't draining properly, it could be as simple as the air gap or discharge hose being clogged.

If your dishes are cloudy, or spotted, or if your dishwasher is not draining properly, make sure that the rinse aid is full, and check the filter at the bottom of the dishwasher, most dishwashers have an easy access filter you can remove to clean.
